This 2 1/2 day workshop is for massage therapists or health professionals who wish to serve elders, and the ill or dying person. Training includes: Common conditions and unique needs of elders in long term care; benefits of massage for individuals in care settings; sensitive massage techniques; comfort positioning; safety and precautions; accessing a person in a wheelchair or hospital bed; introduction to massage in care of those with dementia; specialized communication skills and introduction to expanding massage practice into care settings. Compassionate Touch® sessions with elders are a part of this training. Your hands-on experience is deepened as all of our training is held in a long term care facility.
